Michael Budden

Michael is an artist living and working in his native New Jersey. Using a painterly approach, his subject matter ranges rom New Jersey and the eastern seaboard to the Rocky Mountains. His inspiration comes mostly from observing and painting directly from nature, whenever possible, and intense study of not only the deceased masters but of his contemporaries as well.

In his early years Mr. Budden won many accolades as a wildlife artist who’s paintings were widely collected and are included in three museum collections. Prints of his paintings sold nationally and helped raise awareness and critical funds for conservation efforts.  Over the years his subject matter has grown and changed and he now concentrates on landscape, seascape and urban scenes which have won numerous awards in various shows nationwide.  He is a two time winner of the Arthur T. Hill Memorial Award for the Best Landscape;  2008 Purchase Award, 2009 & 2012 Alden Bryan Memorial Award for Best Traditional Landscape in Oil at the Salmagundi Club, NY; The Gary T. Erbe Award, Allied Artist 2011 and 2012 Laumiester Award at the Nation Competition, Bennington Center for the Arts, Bennington, VT.

His paintings and prints can be found in many collections including three museums, galleries, national shows and private collections nationally and internationally.
