David Howell is an English painter working from a studio in Somerset, England. He paints primarily in watercolor and oils, and tends to concentrate on marine and landscape subjects. David also paints equestrian pictures with particular emphasis on racing and associated activities.
Very much at the other end of the spectrum than current fashion for conceptual art, David is concerned with the process of communicating what he sees and feels about the world around him, and spends a large amount of time working outside. He travels widely with regular working trips overseas, and has just returned from the deserts of the Arabian peninsular. He is just as likely to be seen standing with a sketchbook in a muddy dyke on the Somerset Levels, as with an easel in Venice.
David’s paintings have appeared at the Maritime Gallery and he has had one-man show in Dubai, and a sell-out, one-man exhibition in London. He is a regular, both at national exhibitions and galleries throughout the UK and the Middle East, and fully intends to continue to ship work to Connecticut. David undertakes commissions for clients in the corporate and private sectors, and his paintings hang in private and corporate collections in locations as diverse as boardrooms in the City of London to royal palaces in Arabia. He is a member of The Royal Society of Marine Artists and The Society of Equestrian Artists.
