Jerry Melton

Jerry was born in the state of Arkansas and moved to California at the age of five. In high school art was the center of his interest and he received several awards in art and architectural drafting. After high school Jerry spent two years in the U.S. Army and was in the 2nd Armored Cavalry and discharged in 1970. In the early 1970s Jerry attended Imperial Valley College and received a two-year degree in business supervision. He and his family moved back to Arkansas in 1977 where they live now. Jerry’s interest in model ships started on his 7th birthday when he was given a small metal boat. When he was around 8-years-old, he made his first model and his cousin sold it for 50 cents. With the exception of some models over the years, Jerry’s model making as a professional started about 1996. “I’m a scratch-builder only and have never built a model kit, nor have I ever used manufactured parts on my models.”
