Eileen Sanger

Eileen Sanger believes that color and atmosphere best express an emotional response seen through her brushstrokes and her approach to capturing light on her subjects. Sanger’s intuitiveness in painting brings spontaneity to her work and creates a sense of place. Her work is recognized by her strong lights and layered colors and was quoted by Helen Harrison of The New York Times, “Intense color contrasts enliven Eileen Sanger’s paintings.”

Sanger has studied with many talented and notable artists, many who have influenced her work and her artistic direction. Studying traditional painting has led her onto a natural path into impressionism. She has painted in many locations which include Cape Cod, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut, and Florida plus near her home on the North Sore of Long Island.

Sanger is a founding member of a Long Island Plein Air Painter’s Society and a member of Salmagundi Club in New York City. She has exhibited in galleries and museums in Southampton Roslyn, Setauket, and Huntington Long Island, as well as New York City, the Boston area of Massachusetts and in Chicago, Illinois. She has received many awards and ribbons and is collected locally and internationally. Eileen teaches workshops and classed in the Stony Brook area.
