Jaime Roman Sonocco Saco
Jaime Roman Sonocco Saco was born in 1971 in Lima, Peru. He hails from a long line of artists from the southern city of Arequipa, a city famous for the mountain landscapes and watercolor artists. Since he was a child, Jaime showed an interest in landscape drawing, and at the age of 12 he moved to Chorrillos, a neighborhood of Lima close to the sea. It is at that time his infatuation with maritime themes began. In 1998, he studied oil painting at the Lima Art Museum and in 1989 he entered the national School of Art where he studied for 6 years. While there, he came in contact with many new styles and techniques, and experimented with several materials like oil painting, watercolor, and acrylic painting. Upon completing his formal art education, he decided to paint maritime art, including typical Peruvian fisherman boats. He shows his work in the USA, Dominican Republic, and Argentina.
