Andrew Stranack-Walton gained his BA with honors in illustration from Kingston University in 1984 and has been a successful commercial artist in publishing and advertising for the past 15 years. Now he is concentrating on his two passions — painting and yachting. Having sailed all his life in a variety of craft from dinghies to big boats, it was natural for him to combine his talent as an artist with his deep knowledge of the sea. He owns and sails a vintage Gaff racing boat, giving him the first-hand experience required to accurately portray these beautiful boats. His subject matter is not limited only to these vintage boats, Andrew is the official artist to the Pete Goss challenge for “The Race” — a no-rules, round-the-world event raced in the fastest and most innovative yachts yet built. Andrew works mainly by commission from his waterside studio in the South West of England.
