Ronald J. Tinney was born in 1958 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He attended Penn State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree. Ron now lives in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and is a full-time artist focusing on Coastal Landscapes and Marine scenes. He paints on location “en plein air” year round, studying nature and creating source material for his larger studio oil paintings.
Ron is a Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA) and a Professional Member of the International Society of Marine Painters. He is a juried member of the Copley Society and a past President of the Cape Cod Art Association where he is also a juried member. Ron has had his work juried into numerous shows including Guild of Boston Artists, The Ventura Maritime Museum in California, the Coos Maritime Museum in Oregon, the Oil Painters of America National Exhibition in New Mexico and the International Marine Art Exhibition at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, where he won an Award of Excellence in 2013 and The Rudolph J. Schaefer III Emerging Artist Award in 2014.
He has also had solo shows at the Cape Cod Museum of American Art, The Guild of Boston Artists and the Cahoon Museum of American Art. Ron is currently represented by Fine Art Galleries in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Georgia, Connecticut and Florida.
