Cruise the Maine Coast with the MORGAN’s Captain
August 25-30, 2014
Join Kip Files, captain of the Charles W. Morgan‘s 38th Voyage, aboard his own Windjammer, the three-masted Victory Chimes, for a special five-day cruise among pine-profiled islands and peninsulas, stopping for the night in out-of-the-way coves and fishing villages. This is a unique opportunity to relax and hear Captain Files’ first-hand accounts of sailing the Morgan on her 38th Voyage this summer.
The magnificent 114-year-old, three-masted schooner is the last of her generation, a noble reminder of the Age of Sail. Victory Chimes is the largest passenger sailing vessel under the USA flag and accommodates just 40 guests, which means there is plenty of room for you on the deck, in the main saloon, and in your cabin. The vessel offers modern comfort, including freshwater showers a few steps from your cabin, push-button toilets, and a hot-air furnace. Even with such modern touches, however, the boat remains a true Windjammer, just as she was almost a century ago. Her only engine is in the powerful yawl boat, ready to give a push when winds don’t cooperate.
Board the boat between 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 25, and return to Rockland on Saturday, August 30, just in time for Labor Day Weekend! Captain Files recommends the local B&B’s either before or after your cruise to fully enjoy your time in Maine.
