Intermediate Observing: A Practical Lesson on the Night Sky
November 9, 2013
A four-hour class that builds on the knowledge gained from our Introductory Observation course. Gain practical hands-on experience setting up manual and computer controlled telescope mounts; learn and make use of celestial coordinates; and start sketching and recording observations. With help from the Planetarium’s advanced telescope, we’ll help you observe targets that have previously eluded you.
This course is a hands-on experience that will be held primarily outdoors. Even though hand warmers will be provided, we encourage you to dress warm! While not a requirement, students who own binoculars and telescopes are encouraged to bring them to class. (A rain date will be scheduled in the event of uncooperative weather.)
