Ocean House Artist-in-Residence Program with David Bareford
From late spring into late summer, the Maritime Gallery will be participating in the Artist-in-Residence program at the Ocean House Hotel in Watch Hill, Rhode Island.Through this unique event, the hotel is bringing art to their guests by inviting local artists to take residence and use the Ocean House as their muse. The artists will also hold demonstrations or workshops for hotel guests and outside patrons. Three Maritime Gallery artists will be guests of the hotel Fridays-Sundays, May 23-August 31, 2014.
From Friday to Sunday, watch the artist-in-residence at work on hotel grounds, creating a masterpiece and using the Ocean House as the backdrop. Meet the artist-in-residence at a cocktail reception from 5- 6 pm on Friday evening and see the artist’s work on display. On Saturdays at 11 a.m., participate in an hour-long demonstration or hands-on workshop given by the artist-in residence.
May 23-25: David Bareford, Maritime Gallery Artist
Saturday, May 24 at 11 a.m. — Watch as David Bareford demonstrates his love of the sea and plein air painting as he paints on the grounds of the Ocean House. The artist is the recipient of the prestigious Stobart Foundation Award at the Maritime Gallery’s Annual International Marine Art Exhibition which honors the artist for their work that shows “uniqueness of style, quality of light and atmosphere.”
