AL BARKER was not formally trained as an artist, but rather earned his BS and MS degrees in Forestry. He later received a National Fellowship for Doctorate work. He became a forestry educator in private industry and later at the post secondary level. To assist in his teaching curricula, Al began drawing and painting wildlife and marine estuary scenes. Specializing in smaller sized oil and watercolor paintings, he has produced over 150 editions of etchings. Besides having won numerous awards in national art competitions, Al has exhibited continuously at the Easton Waterfowl Festival since its inception more than 30 years ago. His work has been recently exhibited in the states of Ohio, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and Virginia. Al has also had a piece accepted into the White House Collection in Washington, DC.
