Jim is a graduate of Vesper George School of Art in Boston, MA, class of 66, and studied at the University of Hartford Art School and the Boston Institute of Architecture. Jim's professional studies, as well as his great appreciation of French and American Impressionism, provided him with a firm foundation in the fundamentals necessary to create his vibrant and expressive paintings.
As a professional artist, Jim devotes all his time to painting marine related subjects and exhibiting. His work is in private collections in the United States and abroad and is currently represented by galleries in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and Florida.

He has been exhibiting at The Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT in the annual “International Marine Art Exhibition”, “The Modern Marine Masters” show, the annual “Plein Air Painters” and “Holiday Miniature” exhibits since 2003.
