Biography
Kim Muller-Thym

Kim Muller-Thym loves to paint water and sky. Being more comfortable on terra firma than on boats, she stroll's the water's edges, where she is continually excited by just about everything she sees, breathes and feels. She is particularly drawn to the varied scenes of New England, the Chesapeake Bay (where she grew up, sailed and farmed) and Nova Scotia, where she and her husband, Marvin, spend their summers. They feel best living close to water.

Kim's work has been exhibited regularly in the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT, in the annual Modern Marine Masters, the Plein Air Painters and Holiday Miniature exhibitions since 2005, and the annual International Marine Art Exhibition juried show, where she won the coveted John Stobart Award, in 2006; The Academic Artists Association in MA; The Salmagundi Art Club in New York; and The Lyme Art Association, Old Lyme, CT. Her art sells in galleries from Richmond, Virginia to Nova Scotia.

Kim's background is multi-faceted. She taught at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Maryland Institute College of Art and she worked 30 years in journalism as a reporter, editor, art director and designer. In Virginia, she received her BA in German literature at Sweet Briar College.
