Biography
Caleb Whitbeck

Caleb was born in Reno, Nevada. He moved to California during the Second World War and attended grade school in San Rafael. He moved again and attended high school in Riverside, California. He spent a year at the University of California, Davis Campus before serving in the Army in Japan and Korea in 1950. He attended the Academy of Art University upon discharge from the service and graduated in 1958.

Caleb is San Franciso Bay’s premier marine artist, has been drawing and painting ships and the sea for over 40 years. He is a sailor and Signature and Founding Member of the American Society of Marine Artists. His paintings, watercolors and prints are in many purblic and private collections across the country. He was recently listed in The Smithsonian American Art Museum as an important American nautical artist. He has had two one-man-shows and has shown in twenty-five group shows including the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport's Annual International Exhibition where he won the David Thimgan Award in 2007.
