Biography
Stephen Cook

A Provincetown childhood bonded Stephen Cook to the sea early, and growing up in a family of visual artists determined his career interest. He has been painting for most of the past 70 years and his sales began at the age of 13 and continue with his decade long representation at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport - his proudest of several gallery connections.

Steve received a Bachelor's Degree from Rhode Island School of Design and has a Teaching Certification from the Mass State Public Schools where he taught art in New Bedford for four years and one year re-writing the city's Public Schools Art Curriculum. Steve also spent a few years in the real estate business besides spending about 30 years as a Free Lance artist at Ad Agencies in New York and New England creating ads, book illustrations, stage sets and murals.

Besides Steve's love of painting marine scenes, his other marine interests have included sailing in his own boat and four years in the Massachusetts commercial fishery.
