Nella's art is a constant exploration of the relationship between man and its environment and becomes a spiritual and intimate journey. She spends hours and hours on the North Shore coastline recording atmospherical moods of the sea, light and sky. Then this work is completed in her studio where she interprets and transfers her emotions and her studies on canvas. Working mainly with oils on linen, she uses cold wax as a medium often adding marble dust to create more texture and depth. It is the numerous layers, scrapings and layering again that will help shape the final painting. Nella is a juried Artist Member of: The National Associations of Women Artists, NY; Rockport Art Association, Rockport, MA; North Shore Art Association, Gloucester, MA; Oil Painters of America "National Exhibition" Colorado, May-June 2010. Her most recent awards include: The RAA Excellence in Any Medium - 2011; The Harold Rotenberg Award for a provocative, imaginative and experimental painting at the Rockport Art Association - 2011; The Dorothy L.
