Biography
Howard Park

Howard Park resides in Stonington, CT where he owns and operates the Four Starr Fine Art Conservation & Frame Shoppe, located in the old Velvet Mill. He attended the Masters of Fine Arts program at Tufts University and studies at the School of The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. He continued his studies in France at L'Ecole d'Art Decoratif de Nice, where he won a National prize in photography. After a stint in the Merchant Marine, Park returned to Boston to work as a photographer and Art Director, but the love of the sea eventually led him to Connecticut to manage a boatyard and raise a family. Ultimately, he realized his dream to sail around the world and paint. After restoring Comet, a 1946 Sparkman & Stephens 52’ yawl, Howard completed the circumnavigation in 2001. His one hour lecture of the voyage, a presentation of watercolors and photographs, is popular at yacht clubs and civic organizations.

Howard has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. His works hang in galleries and private collections throughout the world and include: The Arnould Gallery, Marblehead, MA, Cate Charles Gallery, Stonington, CT, Four Starr Gallery, Stonington, CT, The Louisa Gould Gallery, Martha's Vineyard, MA, The Maritime Museum in Auckland, New Zealand, The Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport , Mystic, CT - where he has been accepted into the "International Marine Art Exhibition", "Modern Marine Masters", Plein Air Painters of the Maritime Gallery" and Holiday exhibitions since 2001. He is also an Elected Artist at the Mystic Arts Center, Mystic, CT.

Howard has realized his dream of owning his own gallery where he specializes in restoring oil paintings and conserving works on paper. He contiunues to participate in Plein Air workshops throughout the year but enjoys painting in his studio, which is also at the Four Starr Gallery. His love of the sea and maritime culture is evident in his oil paintings and watercolors.
