Sail the Morgan 2014
Sail the Morgan 2014 is a Mystic community group dedicated to raising $1.5 million to help Mystic Seaport restore and sail the 1841 whaleship Charles W. Morgan. Comprised of local business people, professionals, educators, and civic leaders the group seeks to increase awareness of the effort to have the Morgan go to sea again and to rally together as a community to celebrate the spirit of American enterprise that she represents.
The committee presented a series of activities in downtown Mystic in conjunction with Mystic Restaurant Week during November 2012, culminating with a special day on November 10 that celebrated the 71st anniversary of the arrival of the Charles W. Morgan to Mystic. Charles W. Morgan Day at Mystic Seaport featured free admission for all visitors and special demonstrations, presentations, and a spectacular fireworks display over the Mystic River. The day's free admission and fireworks were made possible by the generous sponsorship of Mohegan Sun.
