Museum Small Craft Association Annual Meeting
Monday, October 8 - Thursday, October 11, 2012
This year's annual meeting will be here at Mystic Seaport! In addition to sessions, there will be time to explore the Museum, including the hundreds of historic boats stored in the Collections Research Center. Monday evening will feature a trip down the historic Mystic River aboard Sabino, a coal-fired steamboat built in 1908 for use along the Maine coast. We'll also tour the Charles W. Morgan, the 1841 whaleship, which is undergoing a major restoration in preparation for her 38th Voyage in 2014. On a smaller scale there will be opportunities for networking on the water aboard some of the Museum's livery boats.
Thursday we'll take a field trip to next door Rhode Island with stops expected to include the International Yacht Restoration School in Newport and the Herreshoff Museum in Bristol. We also plan to visit one of the boat restoration shops closer to Mystic. There will be presentations and discussions, and lots of opportunities for informal discussions.
The program is currently being planned. Ideas and suggestions are most appreciated, whether it's a topic you'd like to learn about, a presentation you'd like to make or a discussion you'd like to lead.
