Brilliant Charters
Experience the adventure and challenge of sailing a 61 foot schooner with a group of your family and friends. Visit quiet anchorages and popular tourist destinations along the New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts coasts and islands while learning to sail a classic vessel.
The Brilliant program provides a unique sailing experience by guiding your group through the operation of the vessel while working and living together at sea. Learn the importance of being a good shipmate, teamwork and proper seamanship.
Spring / Fall Adult and Youth Charters
Charters are available for any of the spring and fall dates, provided that space is available. Four-day charters may be created by combining adjacent two-day sails or expanding a Saturday to Sunday trip.
If you charter Brilliant, please bear in mind that we must have at least six able hands, fit and agile, to run the boat safely in difficult weather conditions. Charters are limited to eight adults. No previous sailing experience is necessary.
Typically, we sail to Block Island, RI or Shelter Island, NY on a two-day charter; a four-day charter may include Bristol or Newport, RI. Each two-day charter begins at 9:00AM and returns at 4:00PM on the following day and includes meals and an overnight aboard.
Brilliant is also available for charter in the spring and fall for school and scout groups. Please contact us for more information and availability.

Summer Youth Charters (Ages 15 -18)
Up to eight teenagers, plus a group leader, can charter Brilliant for a five day educational voyage during the summer. Learn how to sail a classic vessel while developing team building skills. Participants haul on the lines, steer the vessel, learn navigation, help in the galley and stand watch.
Under the guidance of professional crew and a Coast Guard licensed captain, students are taught how to handle Brilliant and are then given the responsibility of doing so. The Brilliant program has worked with schools, scouts, yacht clubs and individual charter groups. The summer schedule is limited to youth groups ages 15-18. No previous sailing experience is necessary.

Cancellation Policy and Statement of Responsibility
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Full payment must accompany this registration. Mystic Seaport reserves the right to cancel the program in case of bad weather, mechanical problems or other unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, your payment will be returned.
If you cancel 30 days prior to sailing time, your payment, less an administrative fee of 25% of the course cost (50% for Brilliant charters), will be returned. No refund will be given if you cancel within 30 days of sailing time. Cancellations and requests for refunds must be in writing.
