Donate or Sponsor a Dyer Dhow or JY15!
Love to sail Dyer Dhows? Have one you would like to donate to a worthy cause? Mystic Seaport, in support of its many community sailing programs, is looking for generous individuals and/or clubs who would like to donate or sponsor a new or used Dyer Dhow. <See current list of sponsoring clubs and individuals>
Donate a NEW Dyer Dhow. For a mere $3,500, a new Dyer Dhow will be added to our fleet to bring enjoyment to anyone who sails her for years to come. The donation includes admittance to the annual Dyer Dhow Derby, the opportunity to name the boat with your club or own name and select the sail color of your choice or the club's burgee colors. What a better way to show off your / the club's generosity and to help others learn to love to sail? The suggested follow up is a new sail every 2-3 years so your boat can stay competitive in the derby and be enjoyed by all who use it.
Adopt a Dhow. Our Dyer Dhow fleet is always looking for improvements and maintenance in order to keep the dinghies operable for years to come. Currently we have several dhows in need of adoption. These boats' previous donors have abandoned them and forgotten them on the shoreline. Could you please adopt one of these poor nameless dhows today?
Your generous donation of $900 will give new life to an orphan dyer. The boat will be full restored, renamed with the donor's name (or club name), choice of sail color and admittance to the Dyer Dhow Derby for years to come. Can you please help restore a dyer and give sailing pleasure to many people for years to come?
Other Sponsorship. Can't donate or adopt a dhow? Any monetary donation is always helpful to keeping the fleet afloat. A new sail, suggested every 2-3 years for competition and necessary every 5 years for regular upkeep and maintenance, is $450. Donor chooses sail color(s) - usually the club burgee. Smaller donations are always welcome and help with the continued maintenance of the fleet such as new paint, new rails, new thwarts or other needs.
JY15s. Mystic Seaport currently owns a small fleet of JY15s that are also used as part of the Community Sailing program. Donations of these vessels or in support of the fleet are also greatly appreciated.
