Mystic Seaport Exhibitions and Galleries
The 19th century has never felt more alive than in the formal exhibitions and maritime galleries at Mystic Seaport – the nation’s foremost.
| | Treasures from the Collections Take an in-depth look at some of the finest artifacts drawn from the collections of Mystic Seaport. Rather than presenting objects and images based on their connection to unifying stories, themes, and ideas, "Treasures from the Collections" breaks new ground by presenting artifacts selected primarily for their artistic and aesthetic merit. |
| | Restoring a Past, Charting a Future: An Artistic Discovery of America's Whaling Legacy See fresh, creative perspectives of an historic object in this exciting collaboration with the Dalvero Academy of Brooklyn, NY. Dalvero artists found artistic inspiration from the Charles W. Morgan and their resulting work is a beautiful display of multiple interpretations of the whaleship's past, present, and future journeys. |
| | Neptune's Orchestra: Songs of the Seafarer Take a musical journey through a variety of sounds made by and heard by seafarers in the age of sail. You can also make and play musical instruments, explore your reactions to music in visual media, and investigate the processes of creating music. |
| | Learn all about the tools, timbers, skills, and stories that are part of the preservation of the Charles W. Morgan, the last wooden whaleship in the world. At the completion of this restoration project, the Museum plans to sail the Morgan on a ceremonial voyage to historic ports on the East Coast in the summer of 2014. |
