Meet the Museum's New Director of Membership

Alex Alpert Dear Member,

It is with great honor and enthusiasm that I start my new appointment as the Director of Membership and Volunteer Services at Mystic Seaport. I believe that our members and volunteers are the heart of this Museum, and it is my privilege to be working for you. The success of Mystic Seaport is a reflection of our thriving membership which now includes over 16,000 members.

The best part of my job is meeting and working with our devoted volunteers. The success of this volunteer program is due to the leadership of our Associate Director Rhoda Hopkins Root. Thanks to Rhoda, Mystic Seaport now has over 1,100 volunteers who last year alone devoted more than 85,000 hours of their time to the Museum. From the restoration of the Charles W. Morgan to the beautiful gardens on our grounds, volunteer hands have touched every part of this Museum.

As a neighbor and longtime member of Mystic Seaport, I value the unique opportunities and exhibits available to our members and visitors. I believe the history of America is directly tied to the history of the sea and that these are the very stories we must preserve and share.

Thank you for your continued commitment to Mystic Seaport through your membership. Your membership not only supports the museum, but allows you access to many member programs. I invite you to stop by the member's lounge for a cup of coffee or lemonade on your next visit.

With Kind Regards,

Alex Alpert

Alexandra Alpert
