Do You Need Financial Aid for Field Trips?
Financial aid is available for student fees for our educational programs, including guided tours, self-guided field trips, in-school and overnight programs. All you need to do is email a letter on school letterhead to rebecca.shea@mysticseaport.org stating the percentage of students who are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. We take the percentage of students eligible for free and reduced-price lunch off of total student fees. After approval for financial aid, you will then need to call 860.572.5322, ext. 1 to make your reservation.
Financial Aid also Available for Sailing Programs
Limited, need-based financial assistance is available for Mystic Seaport's sailing programs: the Joseph Conrad overnight sailing program (summer), our teen sailingprogram on Brilliant, and our youth and homeschool Community Sailing programs (summer and fall). No more than 50% of the cost of the program will be given as aid. The student is responsible for at least 50% of the cost. For information on how to apply, please visit www.mysticseaport.org/financialaid
Scholarships
The Todd Wilkins Scholarship Fund was created as an Endowment in 2003 in memory of Todd Wilkins, who was an exuberant and avid sailor. Todd was an instructor in Mystic Seaport's Sail Education programs, teaching young people sailing in the same programs in which he himself had learned to sail years earlier, and in which he took such joy. Todd had a lifelong passion for the sea. He was awarded the coveted Brooks Trophy, which is given to a young sailor who demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship, and was one of the first students from Stonington High School who participated in the Aquanaut Program sponsored by the National Undersea Research Program. To perpetuate Todd's spirit and to honor his memory, Todd's family and friends established the Todd Wilkins Scholarship Fund. Income from the Endowment supports scholarships to allow other young people to experience the same opportunities Todd enjoyed.
