Liberty Days: February Vacation Week
February 18-26, 2012 / 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
All kids receive free Museum admission!
Come to Mystic Seaport and celebrate winter school vacation the way that sailors have enjoyed their days off from work (Liberty Days) for many years! Start a fufu band by making your own banjo from a variety of household items; take a special tour of the last American wooden whaling ship, the Charles W. Morgan, from a child's point-of-view; dig through a sailor's sea chest to discover what he might take to sea with him; and participate in storytime in the Children's Museum.
Explore our musical exhibit "Neptune's Orchestra" and view the stars of the season in our free Planetarium program, "Jupiter and the Late Winter Sky" (ages 6 and up, program held daily at 2 p.m.). Build a toy boat keepsake ($5 fee), hear stories of winter at sea aboard the L.A. Dunton, and enjoy the warmth of the open hearth while trying your hand at candle dipping.
Ready for lunch? Children ages 10 and under dine free at Latitude 41° Restaurant with the purchase of an adult meal. (Offer valid February 18-26; applies to items on the kids' menu only.)
