The Boathouse at Mystic Seaport

Open seven days a week / 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Visit the Boathouse at Mystic Seaport and explore the historic Mystic River firsthand. Rent a classic small wooden boat to row or sail, or cruise in style with a licensed captain aboard our Museum-built catboat.

June 16 - August 18, 2009 - Take part in a Boathouse-sponsored, 10-week Traditional Sailboat Racing Series, Beetle Cat Class and Portsmouth Handicap Class Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. Call 860.572.0711 ext. 4233 or 5094 for details.

Boat Rentals

Twenty traditional small craft from Mystic Seaport's collection are available for rent to qualified boaters:

Museum admission is required for rowboat/sailboat rentals.

Boat RidesRent a rowboat and get out on the water!

Breck Marshall - Enjoy a half-hour sail with a licensed captain on board the 20-foot Crosby catboat Breck Marshall. Sails run between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are sold at the Boathouse. Limit 6 passengers per voyage. Learn more about the Breck Marshall.

Resolute - Enjoy a half-hour sail with a licensed captain aboard the 26-foot 1917 Herreshoff Launch, Resolute. Sails run between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are sold at the Boathouse. Limit 6 passengers per voyage. Learn more about Resolute.

Araminta - The ketch designed by L. Francis Herreshoff and built in 1954 by Norman Hodgdon of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, is available for day charters in Fishers Island Sound. She is in excellent shape and very responsive to the helm. She is ideal for the interesting waters of Fishers Island Sound. This is exhilarating sailing in a yacht designed for comfortable day sails. Araminta can be chartered during working hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Licensed skipper provided. Up to three agile crew members maximum. Member rate is $350, non-member rate is $375. Museum admission is required for rides aboard Breck Marshall.

Boathouse Schedule and Hours - 2009

May 16 - June 21: Boathouse open weekends only, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

June 25 - August 30: Boathouse open seven days a week,10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

September 5 - October 11: Boathouse open weekends only, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

After October 11: Boathouse closed for the winter.
