Music on the River is a special summer series aboard the steamboat Sabino. Each Wednesday evening through August 26, the regular 5:30 p.m. downriver cruise includes live music and a cash bar from Seamen's Inne.
Restoring an Icon details the preservation of the Charles W. Morgan. Learn all about the tools and timbers and the skills and stories that are part of the unprecedented restoration of this American icon. Located in the Shipyard Gallery, this interactive exhibit offers visitors audio-guided tours of the Morgan, detailing parts of the vessel that have been untouched since her construction in 1841.
Mystic Seaport presents its first-ever whodunit event, Maritime Mystery: A Summer Whodunit, a special event where the audience gets to solve the mystery! Follow the clues as you uncover a plot that has the village of Greenmanville in its grip. Investigate leads and gather evidence throughout our 19th-century village and see if you can find the culprit behind it all!
Look for our rolling Navigation Activity Cart and learn about navigation techniques and tools from ancient Arabic and Polynesian inventions to GPS, telescopes and nautical charts. The cart features graphics, experiments and nautical instruments that form the centerpiece of hands-on, interpreter-led programs exploring four topics that concern every mariner, past or present.
This July, Family Fun Weekend at Mystic Seaport is the place for families to be! Get out on the water, take a horse and carriage ride, visit the new Map Spot, become a star in the interactive play, Tale of A Whaler, build a toy boat keepsake, climb aboard our biggest wooden boat the Charles W. Morgan and see it being restored, visit the Children's Museum and Discovery Barn, and see the stars come out at our Planetarium shows. There's so much to see and do this summer at Mystic Seaport, we're even offering you your second-day admission for free!
Visit us July 31 - August 2 for Sea Story Weekend and listen as maritime tales, spoken-word presentations and workshops are led by some of New England's best maritime storytellers. Bring the family and enjoy an afternoon of Tales on the Green, filled with entertaining and moving stories, poems and songs of the sea. Grab your notebook for our writing and presentation workshops, where you can get tips and feedback on your work, learn to use song or rhythm to tell stories, or even write a yarn right there!
Join us for our new Dinner Theater at Mystic Seaport series and enjoy a three-course dinner at Spouter Tavern's outdoor dining area located in the heart of the Mystic Seaport village. Sip a glass of wine, enjoy good conversation and food in the summer evening air and then watch as the Mystic Seaport TaleMakers perform Eugene O'Neill's Ile aboard the L.A. Dunton. O'Neill's harrowing one-act tells the tale of an unforgiving captain, his gentle wife and the obsession that threatens all they hold dear.
Get out on the Water August 4 - 9 and row, sail or motor your way around the Mystic River basin during this summer weekend. Get out on the water and enjoy a different vantage point of Mystic Seaport this summer!
Visitors of all ages are invited to join us for Garden Days, August 21-23. Hands-on activities for children will be offered throughout the day.
It's the end of summer vacation, and you can count on Mystic Seaport to go to the dogs! For Dog Days, August 28-30, we're bringing back those lovable Newfoundlands that demonstrated their lifesaving skills during our Sea Dogs exhibit a few years back, a new demo by the CT Canine Search and Rescue Team and a pack of other special activities for families -- and your furry ones. Bring a canine friend! |
