JEFFREY SABOL The serenity of Jeffrey Sabol's paintings is a reflection of the peaceful place in his soul….the sum parts of years of maritime journeys. As a youth growing up on the Connecticut shoreline Jeffrey spent countless hours boating on the Long Island Sound as well as the Housatonic River. He was both entranced and inspired by his native waterways, which became his artistic focus as early as age fifteen, and he went on to study architectural design and art and continued developing his maritime theme in his work. The restlessness of a young man in his twenties brought Sabol to Florida, where he had the privilege of studying for more than two years under the world-renowned muralist and portrait artist, W.Linzee Prescott of New York. They collaborated on the exterior murals on the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale to commemorate the 1976 Bicentennial. He also spent several years as a long line fisherman and shrimper in the Gulf of Mexico. This constant exposure to Mother Nature at sea gave him insight in to the peaceful beauty her motherly calm as well as the wrath and fury of life threatening storms. It occurred to him around this time that it was a lot safer to paint the sea than to try to make a living out in the elements. Upon returning north to Connecticut, Sabol devoted himself exclusively to developing his painting to arrive at his current style of reflective placidity. His works are in private collections and corporations worldwide. Many have been commissioned pieces. Sabol has also done private work for the New York Yacht Club, as well as other area yacht clubs. He now sails his Columbia Sloop in the waters of southern coastal New England, enjoys dinghy sailing, and has even tried his hand as yacht crew at Antigua Race Week. Sabol is a contributing artist at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut. He received the AWARD OF EXCELLENCE at the Mystic International Marine Art Show in 2003, as well as the MARITIME GALLERY YACHTING AWARD at the Mystic International Marine Art Show in 2001. He has been in the MODERN MARINE MASTERS show at Mystic every year consecutively since 1999 and has also been a featured artist several times at the Maritime Gallery. Sabol has also won numerous awards at seasonal New England art shows and has been reviewed and written up in several prominent art publications. Sabol has recently signed a publishing agreement with Mystic Seaport wholesale division to produce large-scale giclee' prints of some of his work for marketing and distribution in the US and Canada. His work is also displayd at Sheldon Fine Arts Gallery in Newport, Rhode Island and Naples, Florida, The Art of the Sea Gallery in South Thomaston, Maine, The Brick Gallery in Essex, Connecticut and the Reef Gallery in Key Largo, Florida. Sabol is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA) and Mystic Seaport. Edition of 200 Image Size: 15" x 24" Giclee on Paper s/n
