The Official video of Europa 92 the first round the world rally for cruising boats

Leaving Gibraltar in January 1991, 36 yachts from 12 nations participated in this event, which covered 24,000 miles and visited 19 countries before returning to Gibraltar in April 1992. The video follows their progress across the Atlantic to the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and then across the Pacific via the Marquesas, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu and through the Torres Straits to Australia. The route then takes them to Bali, Singapore, Phuket, Sri Lanka, Djibouti and up the Red Sea to the Suez Canal. Arriving in Malta the yachts prepared for the last leg with the competition among the leading yachts so close that the winners were only decided on this final leg. The video features both this competition and the fun ashore as the yachts sail through some of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the world. There is also drama, excitement and tragedy, a man overboard, a yacht wrecked on a reef, while another is seized at gunpoint in the Red Sea. The video features both the action on board some of the yachts and the countries visited in this unique event.
