Membership at Mystic Seaport is more than just free admission. The Museum offers members the opportunity to pursue personal interests as part of a variety of communities that focus on an aspect of maritime history. Whether your interest is research, art, watercraft preservation, or simply pitching in to support a worthy cause, we have a job for you!
Volunteer
Volunteers at Mystic Seaport are integral to the operation of the Museum. On any given day, one can find volunteers performing a wide range of tasks across the grounds, whether it is in the Shipyard, the exhibits, the Collections Research Center, or the gardens–and these are just a few of the opportunities. If you have a particular talent or enthusiasm that you would like to share, we encourage you to get involved.
PILOTS
Mystic Seaport PILOTS are a special breed of volunteer.They gather two weekends a year to perform a variety of special work projects alongside Museum staff. The program is designed to give members a greater understanding of the Museum’s day-to-day operations and special insight behind the scenes of Mystic Seaport.
Gallery Patrons
The Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport in the nation’s leading gallery for contemporary marine art. The Patron Membership Program seeks to join discriminating collectors who love the art of the sea. Patrons enjoy special benefits including invitations to private events, previews of significant exhibitions, and a discount on purchases from the Gallery.
Library Fellows
The Fellows of the G.W. Blunt White Library is a small group of individuals who have joined together to support the Library, its collections, and programs. Membership consists of researchers, writers, professors, librarians, booksellers, and others with deep maritime interests. In addition to contributing financial resources to the Library, many Fellows serve either as volunteers or advisors. Membership to the Fellows is attained through nomination by other Fellows.
