Primary Source Workshops
Where students become history detectives!
Using artifact analysis guided questions, students work in teams or as a class analyzing groups of primary source documents and other artifacts. For students in grades 4-7 we emphasize what primary sources are and how to analyze them. For students in grades 8-12 we delve deeper into specific themes relating to key American maritime topics including:
- the changing perception of whales over time
- immigration
- adventures at sea
This program specifically meets the Common Core reading standards for literacy in history/social studies, standards 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9.
Please note: reservations for Primary Source Workshops must be made at least three weeks in advance.
