My Ancestor Sailed on the Charles W. Morgan
Over her 80 years of whaling, some 1600 men sailed and whaled aboard the Charles W. Morgan. Descendants of those sailors are now scattered, not only here in America, but also around the world. Except for occasional contacts from relatives who have visited the museum or written us to tell us of their connection, we've never sought to gather all their stories and connections together.
But now, in advance of the upcoming restoration project on this venerable vessel, we are asking descendants of the Morgan's "family" to contact us and cite their connection. We're inviting you, if you are part of that large group, to research your genealogy and to cite that connection to us. In addition to connections with crew members, we invite those who have other special connections with the Morgan to send information as well.
In the Summer of 2006 we plan to host a very special weekend - a "family reunion" to honor these members of the Morgan's extended family. We invite you to look up your family names in the crew lists and to tell us your connection to the ship.
