Get Out on the Water
After exploring Mystic Seaport on foot, leave it in your wake.
We have many rare and historic boats you can climb aboard at Mystic Seaport. Even better, we also have several you can ride aboard or pilot yourself. Take a waterfront cruise aboard one of our launches. Charter a sail on board a Herreshoff ketch or spend the day relaxing underneath a historic catboat’s billowing sail. Rent a classic wooden rowboat or sailboat and explore the river firsthand. Before you leave Mystic Seaport be sure to see the Museum from an entirely different vantage point!
Ways to Explore the Mystic River:
Experience the adventure and challenge of sailing a 61-foot schooner with a group of your family and friends. Visit quiet anchorages and popular tourist destinations along the New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts coasts and islands while learning to sail a classic vessel.
Summer Teen Program: Up to eight teenagers, plus a group leader, can charter Brilliant for an educational voyage during the summer. Steamboat Sabino is presently undergoing a major restoration in the Museum’s Henry B. duPont Preservation Shipyard. The majority of Sabino’s restoration will be complete by summer 2016 when she will be launched back into the water; however, the vessel will operate as a dockside exhibit for the foreseeable future until her boiler is replaced. Follow the restoration on our Shipyard Blog.
