Peter Bain grew up in Lynnfield, MA, spending summers on Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester. As a boy, he pursued drawing and design in his free time and in 1992 he earned a Bachelors Degree from Tufts University and an MBA from Babson College in 2004.
In 2001 a career change allowed him to pursue his interest in art. He was first introduced to painting by Cape Ann artist, Paul George, who he studied with for several years. Boats, rocks, sand and the ocean in his paintings are all influenced by Cape Ann. Many of the Cape Ann artists, Aldro Hubbard and Frederic Mulhaupt, to name a few, are some of his favorite painters.
Peter’s career as an artist continues to rise. His first solo show was self-promoted at his local library in 2014 and ever since then he has been accepted into juried shows and invited to give gallery demonstrations. In the spring of 2018, he joined Gallery Twist, followed by a very successful show in July. Recently, he became a member of the North Shore Arts Association and he currently teaches painting at the LexArt.
Peter is a versatile painter of landscapes, still-life’s, figure and animal portraits with equal aplomb. Most of his works are painted in his studio from photos, but he paints en plein air as well.
Peter lives in Lexington, MA with his wife and two daughters.
