Born in 1961, Heinke Bohnert is one of the well-known artists of contemporary marine paintings in Germany. She received her education in painting from the Shehata Art Academy in Hamburg and Goslar Art Academy. She started sailing and painting when she was very young and her paintings are the impressions of many regattas and miles on the sea, especially when she was a member of the German team of the Olympic 470 class and took part in many international competitions.
Now, Heinke has changed to yacht sailing with her family and her small painting equipment is always onboard. All impressions are taken home to the studio. She combines many materials in her paintings, working with old sails, natural papers and is always collecting things with an interesting surface to fix on her work. She mainly works with acrylics on canvas or used sails.
Heinke’s work is sold by the leading galleries of maritime art in Germany and northern Europe.
