Michael is a painter with an interest in nautical and landscape themes. As the son of a sailor and Merchant Mariner who served during the war, Michael has always been fascinated by the sea and ships.
Before Michael launched into a career as an illustrator, portrait painter, and a photo retoucher with an emphasis on fashion and beauty, he majored in illustration at Pratt Institute, studied painting at the League with Sanden, Leffel, and with several other artists.
Michael has exhibited at the National Arts Club, the Salmagundi Club and the National Academy. Additionally, he has taught art at the Atlanta College of Art and Paier College of Art. He is a life member of the Art Student’s League and a member of the West Side Artist Coalition. His work is represented by Design Domaine Gallery in New Jersey and Gallery 35 in New York City.
During the warm weather, Michael plein air paints in Central Park, and paints still life from photos in his studio during bad weather. He also likes to throw pots, mainly out the window!
