Mike Eagle graduated from the Hartford Art School of the University of Hartford Cum Laude with a BFA. After a brief career as staff illustrator at the Aetna Life & Casualty Co. he then followed by military service as an Army Officer, Mike embarked on a career as a free-lance illustrator where he has been a member of the Society of Illustrators since 1970. He created art for a host of clients in the field of book and editorial illustration as well as advertising.
Since his retirement in 2008, Mike has devoted much of his time to transparent watercolor painting. He is a Signature Member of The Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society and has exhibited his art regionally & nationally, including; the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, the NFWS, and the Pittsburg and Philadelphia Watercolor Societies. Additionally, Mike’s work is included in the permanent collections of the Society of Illustrators, the Aetna Life & Casualty Company, the Carus Corporation, the Dallas Public Library, the Air Force, and the National Parks.
Awards include: First Award & Medal, The Society of Illustrators’ National Collegiate Competition, Honorable Mention in The United States/The Edwin Austin Abbey Mural Scholarship Competition, First Award NFWA National Spring Exhibition (2009), Honorable Mention NFWA National Spring Exhibition (2010). Recently he has exhibited in the Philadelphia watercolor Society’s Annual International Works on Paper Exhibition and the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society’s Aqueous Open International Exhibition.
