Carolyn Hesse-Low graduated from University of California and continued her training at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Her landscapes, figures and marine subjects capture the changing mood and rugged beauty of what she sees. Her paintings have been shown in over 80 museum exhibitions and in countless galleries and art institutions. She has been selected to paint in plein air invitational and juried events throughout the country.
As a featured artist, Carolyn’s work has appeared on the cover of PleinAir Magazine. Her work has also been featured in Southwest Art, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur and Art of the West magazines. She has been published in several books, including California Light: A Century of Landscapes, and Painting California: Seascapes and Beach Towns. Her work has received numerous awards, including Best of Show at San Luis Obispo Art Museum, the Medal of Honor at the National Arts Club, Best Studio Landscape from Plein Air Salon, Publisher’s Choice Award from PleinAir Magazine, and Award of Excellence at Plein Air Southwest Salon. Her work is represented in national and international collections.
Carolyn Hesse-Low is a Signature Member of American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA), American Impressionist Society, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, Outdoor Painters Society and National Watercolor Society. She is an Artist Member of the California Art Club.
