Takeshi Kutsuhara

Takeshi was born in Kumamoto City, Japan in 1942. After graduating from a technical college, he worked with an electric company as a mechanical engineer for 40 years.

Since his early childhood, he loved the sea and ships and used to make models and draw and paint landscapes. Marine painting roused his interest when he was in his thirties and he has been painting ever since. To become more familiar with the sea, he started sailing on yachts and now since he is retired, he has his own 20’ Pocket Cruiser, FLICKA.

Takeshi has had solo exhibitions in Nagasaki in 1996, Kobe in 1999 and 2003. He and three friends formed the Japan Marine Art Club in Kobe City and had a marine art exhibition in December 2010. His work has been accepted in the International Marine Art Exhibition at the Maritime Gallery, Mystic, Connecticut in 1995, 1996, 2010 & 2013.
