Kenichi was born in 1975 in Kobe City, Japan. As a child, he liked to draw and paint passenger ships with pencil, a dream of his since childhood. In 1998 he sold one of his works and following that a postcard was produced using one of his paintings which were for sale on cruise ships.
Kenichi’s first exhibition was in the Maritime Museum in Kobe City in 2003. Following that an exhibition was held at the Maritime Museum in Osaka, Hiroshima and Shikoku.
Working in colored pencil, castel and poster paint, Kenichi uses photographs and models of the ships as his resource. He especially likes ocean liners, specifically ones of the North Atlantic sea routes and the old passenger boats of Japan that are active in the Pacific Ocean sea routes.
Kenichi won an Award of Excellence, at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport’s, Mystic, CT International Marine Art Exhibition in 2015.
