Robert Tandecki was born on a farm in Little Falls, Minn. then moved to Washington State as a small child. He always had an interest in art starting with crayons. His teachers encouraged him to continue to college as an art major. He then collected an AA degree in advertising art, but his interest was always fine art so he learned his favorite medium watercolor. He went on and became a full time artist in 1980 and has never looked back
His favorite subjects are the marine and rural environment of the Pacific Northwest in which he calls home. Bob has made several trips up the coast to Alaska with his camera to get ideas for his paintings. In May, he travels Alaska’s Inside Passage as a guest artist for ‘Cruise West’ Gold Rush Tours.
Robert’s hard work has paid off, winning several top awards and selling his works to collectors in many parts of the world. In 2003, he was the Grand Prize winner of ‘Arts for the Parks’ mini 50. He was also featured in Artists Magazine‘s ‘Watercolor Magic’ in the 2005 February issue and Cruising Magazine in 2005. Plus, Arts for the Parks Top 100 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 Best of Show; Pacific Rim Wildlife art show; National Western art show ‘Foss Tug Calendar Competition’ winner 13 times; George Gray Award, Coast Guard Art; and the David Thimgan Award in 2008 and 2015 in the International Marine Art Exhibition at the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport Museum, Mystic, CT.

“I try to capture the mood and weather in my paintings. I also use history and stories that I’ve heard of, or simply scenes or visions I have experienced.”
