Jeff Weaver has been pursuing art in one form or another throughout his life. Born in 1953, he has been drawing and painting waterfront scenes along the coast of Massachusetts since the 1960’s. After attending the Museum School in Boston, he took up residence in Gloucester – where he has become a chronicler of the working waterfont and its environs.
“While my chosen subject matter varies widely – from street scenes to lighthouses – I have found that depicting the Gloucester fisherman of times past to be a fitting outlet for my creative interests. The North Atlantic Ocean has been a place of much human drama over the past few centuries – played out in large part by the schooners and dory fishermen of Gloucester. “In this series of paintings I try to convey some of this dramatic activity though composition and design – all the while conscious of the need to make the work viable as an artistic statement to the viewer”.
