Members Only: Eagle Cruise and CT River Museum

February 23

Beat the winter blues with an invigorating cruise along the Connecticut River to view majestic eagles and other local winter wildlife. We will cruise on board the RiverQuest for our two-hour tour of the river. During the winter months, several species flock to the Connecticut River for prime feeding on river fish. The bare trees along the riverbanks make for excellent viewing. Naturalists will be on board our cruise to educate us about the wildlife we witness. Creatures spotted on past cruises include several different species of eagles, including bald and golden eagles, swans, mergansers, hawks, gulls, loons, seals, fox, deer, and coyote.

Participants may bring snacks or lunch on board the cruise or stop in to town afterwards to enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants. Restaurant suggests will be provided upon registration.

Your trip registration also includes admission to the Connecticut River Museum and their special Eagles of Essex exhibit. Following our cruise, be sure to visit the museum at your leisure to learn more about the marine environment and maritime heritage of the Connecticut River Valley. The museum is open until 5 p.m.

About RiverQuest:

RiverQuest is an environmentally “green” vessel powered by two four-stroke outboard engines. These engines are extremely quiet, have no fumes and have been designed to have minimal impact on the environment. Her twin-hulled, catamaran style makes for a particularly stable ride. The cabin area is outfitted with large windows and is heated for these winter cruises. There is a large open bow and stern deck for optimum viewing.

RiverQuest is handicapped-accessible and can accommodate small, non-electric wheelchairs and walkers. There is a bathroom on board. Passengers are welcome to bring their own food and beverages for the cruise. Complimentary coffee and tea will be provided.

A note about cancellations: The Captain of the RiverQuest reserves the right to change the cruise itinerary or cancel a cruise anytime they feel that there may be a weather, viewing or safety issue.  Because this is a nature cruise, the weather can change drastically in minutes; rain, wind, fog, ice and heavy snow may develop quickly. There are times when a cruise may need to be canceled at the very last minute. Advanced notice of any cancelations will be given as much as possible and refunds issued to participants.

Participants may cancel up to two weeks prior to the program and will receive a refund less an administrative fee of 25% of the program cost. No refund will be given if canceled within two weeks of the program. If Mystic Seaport Museum or RiverQuest should need to cancel the program for any reason, all participants will receive a full refund and be notified as soon as possible.
