Turner Opening Program: David Blayney Brown and Nicholas Bell in Conversation

David Blayney Brown, the Tate Manton Senior Curator of British Art 1790-1850 and curator of the exhibition J.M.W. Turner: Watercolors from Tate, joins Mystic Seaport Museum’s Nicholas Bell, senior vice president for Curatorial Affairs, for a conversation on the watercolors of J.M.W. Turner. Touching on Turner’s development as an artist, his extraordinary technical achievements, the relationship of watercolor to oil in his art, and his perspective on an era of enormous change in Britain, this wide ranging conversation will pull back the curtain on one of the most gifted artists ever to tackle this inherently challenging medium, in its golden age.
