Viking Days

June 1 - June 2

For the second year in a row, the Museum will be transformed in celebration of Viking culture, complete with a Viking market, trade demonstrations, musical and theatrical performances, lectures, and on-the-water activities. Visit a Viking village encampment by living historians Draugar Vinlands, and the clinker-built Viking longship, Draken Harald Hårfagre, a reconstruction of what the Norse Sagas refer to as a “Great Ship.” And you won’t want to miss seeing the new documentary about the ship’s North Atlantic crossing!

Sample Scandinavian fare, watch traditional faering sailing, and a Nordic boat-building demonstration. There will be hands-on activities and games for children and adults throughout the day, and a special Planetarium show on Viking navigation. You’re guaranteed to have an amazing time during Mystic Seaport Museum’s Viking Days!

Most activities are included in Museum admission. Some activities, including Planetarium shows, Viking shield making, Toy Boat Building, and The American Rogues concert, require additional payment or separate ticket.

Activities include:

  • 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., both days: public deck tours of the Draken Harald Hårfagre.  (Please note: Members-only deck tours are 9-10 a.m., Saturday and Sunday.)
  • Screenings of the full length Draken documentary Expedition America – a Modern Viking Adventure
  • Viking encampment with Draugar Vinlands
