SOLD OUT: Viking Shield-Making Workshop
June 16, 2018
In the Viking Age, a shield was a mark of a warrior. During Viking Days at Mystic Seaport Museum, you have the opportunity to make your own round shield. These shields are not only a great decoration for your house or a nice accent to a costume, but are also durable enough to hold up in sword combat.
In the workshop, you will rivet together a 34” linen-faced shield, an iron shield boss, and oak grip, as well as decorate your shield to make it your own. You will also receive a kit for attaching a rawhide edge at home.
Advance reservations are required due to limited class sizes.
This workshop is for ages 14 and older, but does not require previous woodworking skills.
