Member Tour: Behind the Scene – Photography Collections

In the spirit of Mystic Seaport Museum’s new exhibition, When This You See, Remember Me, Senior Curator Fred Calabretta will dig deeply into the Museum’s vast collections of photographs to display and discuss a number of special examples. The work of several photographers, their photographs, and how they were made will provide many fascinating stories.

Three of the collections’ oldest photos will be among the selected portraits, including one that depicts a couple who survived a famous steamship wreck in the 1850s and a rare photo of a boy posing with a toy boat more than 150 years ago. Also featured among this special selection will be a photo signed by General Grant, as well as photos of shipwrecks, disasters, and other interesting characters. Join us for this visual and informative experience behind the scenes of the Museum’s collections!

Meet at the Collections Research Center at Mystic Seaport Museum, 112 Greenmanville Avenue in Mystic, CT.
