This reproduction of a Cape Cod catboat was built in the Museum’s Small Boat Shop in 1987 using the techniques developed by the Crosby family of boatbuilders in Osterville on Cape Cod. The 20-foot boat is typical of those built for fishing and for pleasure use around 1900. At Mystic Seaport Museum, the Breck Marshall is used to take sight-seeing passengers on the upper Mystic River.
The Breck Marshall was built with funds donated by the Catboat Association and named for the late president of Marshall Marine, a catboat builder and enthusiast.
