Member Communities

Membership at Mystic Seaport Museum is more than just free admission. The Museum offers members the opportunity to pursue personal interests as part of a variety of communities that focus on an aspect of maritime history. Whether your interest is research, art, watercraft preservation, or simply pitching in to support a worthy cause, we have a job for you!

Volunteer

Volunteers at Mystic Seaport Museum are integral to the operation of the Museum. On any given day, one can find volunteers performing a wide range of tasks across the grounds, whether it is in the Shipyard, the exhibits, the Collections Research Center, or the gardens–and these are just a few of the opportunities. If you have a particular talent or enthusiasm that you would like to share, we encourage you to get involved. For more information, please visit our Volunteers page.

PILOTS

Mystic Seaport Museum PILOTS are a special breed of volunteer. They gather two weekends a year to perform a variety of special work projects alongside Museum staff. The program is designed to give members a greater understanding of the Museum’s day-to-day operations and special insight behind the scenes of Mystic Seaport Museum. For more information, please visit our PILOTS page.

Library Fellows

The Fellows of the G.W. Blunt White Library is a small group of individuals who have joined together to support the Library, its collections, and programs. Membership consists of researchers, writers, professors, librarians, booksellers, and others with deep maritime interests. In addition to contributing financial resources to the Library, many Fellows serve either as volunteers or advisers. Membership to the Fellows is attained through nomination by other Fellows. For more information, visit our Library Fellows page.
