Self-Guided Tours

Students visit the Mystic Print Shop

Students learn about the 19th-century printing trade in the Mystic Print Shop.

Self-guided tours offer educators the freedom to handcraft their visits to Mystic Seaport. Groups are encouraged to climb aboard the whaleship Charles W. Morgan, visit a working shipyard, go back in time to a 19th-century coastal village, and experience the Museum’s current exhibitions. Mystic Seaport offers a daily schedule of activities, demonstrations, and performances. Activities offered between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. are especially geared toward students.

Additional on-site experiences are available and can be scheduled for a nominal fee. See a Planetarium show or interact with a roleplayer right out of 1876!

Educator Resources

We have new online resources available for educators and chaperones who choose to explore the Museum on their own, including itineraries for chaperones and a Seaport Sleuth activity using photos of items on our grounds.
